YAY! I managed to finish this while bored backstage at my sister's dance recital. (I has no moneys. I'd rather spend my mom's than my own, and since she couldn't be there... I hung out backstage illegally. )
Before anyone asks, the name of this drawing's title comes from a screencap meme that ~DarthPooky and I did (which have since been removed bc screencaps are code violations). We both picked Starscream as our favorite character, and this is the screencap she chose. She told me that she had entitled the file "Starscream's Sexy Hips," and that is what this shot has been ever since. Personally, I think it's kind of his hero pose (cue the Superman theme!) but he is rather caressing himself, isn't he? Here is her take on the pose: [link]
Okay.... to give you an idea of what I did for this drawing... here's the original screencap I used, from the episode Starscream's Brigade: [link]
As you can see, the perspective lines and angles on both arms - but mainly his right - are skewed, as is the left side of his chest (it shouldn't stick out like that). Once the lines of the wings meet his arms, they disappear - whoever animated this forgot to finish them behind him, a barrel section is missing on the null ray on his right arm, and his left arm's null ray is missing entirely.
So essentially, being OCD with my drawings like I am, what I had to do is basically redraw half the picture in order to make it right. Also, because I wanted it to reach the bottom of the page, I pretty much invented his hands and legs, and half his pelvic gimbal. w00t for me. XD
It goes without saying that this drawing was FUN. Screamer is definitely really easy to draw, and because there are so many different parts to him, he's really enjoyable to draw too. I think my favorite parts of this piece are his snub little face, my attempt at his "bulging" thighs, and his hands. If you check out the previous drawings I've done of Screamer, you'll notice I like to make his hands rather delicate; I think it shows his sophistication and arrogance. Even in the show, while Screamy himself is anything but subtle, his hands always have that delicate, effeminite touch. Such fun to draw!
Thanks so much in advance for any comments, tips, collects &/or faves.
*L* I love how you notice all that stuff wrong once you start trying to draw it... (What's a "perspective line," though?)
Also, I don't think his facial expression looks like arrogance, exactly. It's more like... arrogance interrupted. As though he had been standing there, showing off, and smiling at himself, when suddenly Tantrum walked in to the beat of "I'm Too Sexy." And his face is like, "Huh? Uh..."
"perspective lines" are.... well, "perspective" is where all of your lines go toward a "vanishing point". you see how his arm seems to be pointing in 2 different directions? that's where the perspective is screwed up.
Well, he's not exactly "arrogant." the colors messed up his face But he's supposed to be more.... disgusted, not so much arrogant. His line is "Shockwave has much to be humble ABOUT, if his leader can't even conquer the Autobots!" XD
